The first ever World Patient Safety Day took place on Tuesday September 17, with the World Health Organisation launching a global campaign to create awareness of patient safety and urge people to show their commitment to making healthcare safer.

Patient Safety Day is not a new concept to England, and there was plenty of activity taking part on the day across the NHS.

Natasha Swinscoe, national lead for patient safety for the AHSN Network, has written about the launch of the AHSN Network’s patient safety plan to support the NHS patient safety strategy, and how greater collaboration is needed to make it a success.

She also took to the stage at the recent Health and Care Innovation Expo 2019, with Cheryl Crocker, and Laura Hailes from East Midlands PSC, talking about the patient safety plan and care homes report, including LPZ.
