The AHSN Network is proud to announce the key partnership roles played by our member AHSNs in three of the seven data hubs announced by HDR-UK.

The seven Health Data Research Hubs being set up across the UK are designed to enable cutting-edge research for health discoveries. They aim to support the use of data to give patients across the UK faster access to pioneering new treatments to speed up research for new medicines and treatments, support quicker diagnoses and potentially save lives.

The Hubs are part of a four-year £37 million investment from the Government Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), led by UK Research and Innovation, to create a UK-wide system for the safe and responsible use of health-related data on a large scale.

DATA-CAN: The Health Data Research Hub for Cancer hosted by UCLPartners, is a UK-wide partnership that aims to transform how cancer data from across the UK can be used to improve patient care. Yorkshire & Humber AHSN is a collaborator for the Yorkshire & Humber region.

Discover-NOW: The Health Data Research Hub for Real World Evidence in the UK, led by Imperial College Health Partners, will enable cutting-edge research for health discoveries and aims to give patients across the UK faster access to pioneering new treatments.

G.I. Know: The Health Data Research Hub for Inflammatory Bowel Disease will use data to address the urgent need to better understand why patients with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis respond differently to treatments in order to improve people’s outcomes and reduce costs in the NHS. Mark Avery, Director of Health Informatics at Eastern AHSN and CUHP, brought the bid team together.
