A new report from KSS AHSN provides an evaluation of a seven-month action learning programme, aiming to support the development of collaborative leadership skills across emerging primary care networks (PCNs) within Surrey and Sussex.
The programme, supported by Alliance for Better Care, consisted of a series of six Action Learning Sets (ALS), facilitated and led by consultants from The King’s Fund. Groups worked towards a mutual objective which would support the organisational development of their PCN, while also developing their collaborative leadership and encouraging a multidisciplinary approach.
Peter Aldridge, Senior Analyst at KSS AHSN, said that the evaluation sought to identify the potential benefits of the programme.
“Various methods were used to capture data, including questionnaires, interviews, and observation of sessions,” he said.
“Based on this data, we were able to identify and evaluate the potential benefits of the programme and determine whether it succeeded in supporting the development of a collaborative leadership culture within the participating PCNs. The approach yielded strong results, with effective relationships being developed and teams making great progress”
Findings from the report showed that:
- 100% of participants felt that ALS enabled open and honest conversations
- 100% of participants felt that ALS helped the group to reflect upon, and resolve, emerging issues
- 94% felt the project had helped establish a stronger network
- 72% felt the project helped deliver their general leadership skills.
