A new partnership between Hexitime and the health and social care sector in Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) will make it easier to share skills and expertise across the region.

Hexitime is an award winning and innovative national improvement timebank for the health and social care system.

It allows staff and their patients from any organisation contributing to health and social care to share improvement ideas and exchange their skills and experience to progress them to deliver service improvements. In doing so members do not exchange money, but instead earn credits which they can use for further improvement activity.

In addition, the partnership between KSS and Hexitime enables the regional health and social care system to use the platform to enable mass active participation around improvement.

The partnership will see organisations from KSS using Hexitime to support campaigns that will connect people across the region to work together and tackle major challenges.

By becoming a partner and early adopter of Hexitime, KSS has the opportunity to help steer the development of the platform for the benefit of organisations and systems regionally and across the UK.

Peter Carpenter, Service Delivery Director at Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network (KSS AHSN), said:

“Hexitime and KSS AHSN share a similar passion – to encourage the spread of ideas and innovation that improve and ultimately transform lives across health and care.

“This partnership with the region opens up the potential of Hexitime as a resource for individuals and teams looking to find or share expertise.

“Partnering with Hexitime, we aim to connect the skills, ideas and passion of health and social care colleagues to deliver improvement across Kent, Surrey and Sussex, bringing benefits to citizens across the region.”

Kate Jones, Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Research Network Kent Surrey and Sussex (CRN KSS), said:

“The CRN KSS are very excited by the potential Hexitime brings to the region to collaborate on research ideas and transform the way we conduct project based work.

“Channelling expertise where it is needed will be beneficial to all our partners.”

Suzanne Rankin, Chief Executive, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS FT, welcomed the partnership, saying:

“Hexitime has been chosen by KSS as a transformative way to ignite collaboration across the system and connect innovative ideas.”

John Lodge, Co-founder of Hexitime said:

“This is a really exciting partnership and we’re looking forward to working with the organisations that serve a population of over 4.5 million people.

“To create change and transform outcomes at the pace and scale that we need involves deploying mass participation and peer coordination in radically different ways.

“Hexitime empowers staff to find the experts they need and offer their own expertise in return.

“We know transformation is a huge challenge and will only happen if people mobilise to deliver the changes we need – Hexitime gives them a simple and powerful way to do this.”

Hexitime provides the opportunity for colleagues across KSS and beyond to collaborate around the issues that matters to them. By becoming partners and committing to grow the Hexitime platform, KSS are helping to shape this space as healthcare enters the sharing economy.

About Hexitime

Hexitime is the first national improvement time bank for the health and social care system. It allows staff and their patients from any organisation contributing to health and social care to share improvement ideas and exchange their skills and experience to deliver service improvements. In doing so Hexitime maximises the skills and experiences of everybody who participates to improve health and social care services.

Members do not exchange money, but instead earn credits which they can use for further improvement activity or simply donate to central pots where they can be spent on their behalf i.e. with a GP practice, A+E department or Trust, or in a region-wide partnership like the one in KSS.

Hexitime works on a not for profit basis.
