The use of AliveCor ECG devices as part of a regionwide programme co-ordinated by KSS AHSN is continuing to find new patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).
From April 2018 to November 2019, across Kent, Surrey and Sussex there have been 13,175 traces taken to date, detecting 1,352 possible AF results. This equates to approximately 54 AF-related strokes saved.
Avoiding debilitating effects on individuals, and provided all possible AF results are confirmed AF and anti-coagulated, this means avoiding costs to state-funded health and social care of £2.24m over five years.
