The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Kent, Surrey, and Sussex (KSS) has launched its second round of its Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) Fellowship Programme in Sussex.

This programme is aimed at health and social care professionals and allows individuals to directly tackle high priority, health and care challenges, such as enhancing urgent and emergency care, improving integrated community services and addressing health inequalities in coastal and rural areas.

The Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowships will be supervised by the Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) Team, bringing together their extensive stakeholder relationships across the region, as well as their knowledge and experience of spread and adoption of innovation into practice.

Health Innovation KSS and the Sussex Health and Care Research Partnership (SHCRP) and ARC KSS is now inviting health and care professionals in Sussex to apply for this opportunity.

Successful candidates will play a crucial role in driving change. They will collaborate with local decision-makers, practitioners and communities to develop practical improvements that will make a lasting impact on patients and services in their region.

What fellows can expect

  • Leadership of impactful projects: Fellows will lead 18-month projects that address critical health and care issues.
  • Financial support: Each fellowship offers up to £45,500 to cover salary backfill and project costs, plus mentorship and specialised training to help Fellows succeed.
  • Alignment with local priorities: Fellows will design projects that address Sussex’s key health and care priorities, aligned with the Sussex health and care system’s  Improving Lives Together,  and Improving Lives Together Through Research, strategies.
  • Collaboration and mentorship: Fellows will work alongside local leaders and experts to ensure their projects are practical and impactful.

Dr MaryAnn Ferreux, Implementation Lead, ARC KSS and Chief Medical Officer, Health Innovation KSS, says:

“Our region faces complex and evolving health and social care challenges, including workforce and service delivery pressures, particularly in coastal and rural areas.

This Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship programme represents an innovative step in bridging the gap between research and frontline practice.

By embedding fellows within service transformation, innovation, and quality improvement teams across our health and care system, we will accelerate the adoption of evidence-based solutions that drive meaningful change.”
