Digital, Data & AI Better use of digital, data & AI (artificial intelligence) has the potential to support the NHS and social care. These technologies could increase productivity, meet increasing demand and enhance patient outcomes. But healthcare systems face significant challenges in adopting digital and AI solutions to improve patient care. Health Innovation KSS aims to help healthcare systems overcome these challenges. Digital adoption and the NHS Digital adoption is a cornerstone of the NHS’s Long Term Plan to transform health and social care, improve treatment and deliver better care for patients. Healthcare systems however face significant challenges in adopting digital and AI solutions and we aim to address these challenges by focussing on three key areas: Digital and data transformation Workforce capability and capacity building Policy and strategy into action Through strategic partnerships and collaboration with industry leaders, academic institutions, and healthcare providers we enable the development of digital, data & AI innovations, from idea conception through to real world validation, adoption and spread. 1. Digital and data transformation Enabling transformation through technology Our first pillar is all about harnessing the power of data and cutting-edge technology to revolutionise how care is delivered. From AI-driven diagnostics to integrated digital health systems, we want to help reimagine healthcare by turning the promise of technology into reality, ensuring that patients receive the best care possible, anytime, anywhere. 2. Workforce capability and capacity building Empowering healthcare professionals with essential skills A strong healthcare system needs a strong workforce. That’s why our second pillar focuses on upskilling and empowering healthcare professionals to thrive in a rapidly evolving data, digital and AI landscape. 3. Policy and strategy into action Shaping the Future of Healthcare By influencing policy, sharing our insights, and driving the conversation forward, we want to ensure that our region is not just keeping up with the future of healthcare, it’s leading the way. One way we do this in partnership with local systems, is to co-design roundtable discussions to explore digital, data and AI challenges and innovations, with the aim of developing effective and responsible digital and AI integration strategies while fostering a vibrant community of practice.
