Innovation for Healthcare Inequalities Programme (InHIP)

Addressing local healthcare inequalities experienced by under-served populations

People from underserved areas in our region can struggle to access screening and relevant treatment for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

National programme

NHS England’s Innovation for Healthcare Inequalities Programme (InHIP) aims to address local healthcare inequalities experienced by deprived and other under-served populations in line with NHS England’s Core20PLUS5 approach.

Local approach

We supported our local integrated care systems (ICSs) to deliver projects that focus on increasing cholesterol / familial hypercholesterolaemia screening, and access to and adoption of evidence-based innovations for CVD in underserved populations. The overall aim of the projects was to support early identification of CVD risk factors to result in reducing the risk of developing CVD and associated complications, as well as and also addressing local healthcare inequalities.

We commissioned Unity Insights to undertake independent evaluations of each project to establish effectiveness of reaching target communities.
