Driving data decisions with community voices

Driving data decisions with community voices
Case Study Digital, Data & AI

Challenge: People have concerns about how their de-identified health data is accessed by health and care, research, innovators and industry.

What we did: Worked in partnership with the NHS South, West, and Central Commissioning Support Unit and NHS Kent and Medway to co-design a set of principles on how data is used across the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System.

We undertook deliberative engagement with people living with physical and mental health conditions, ethnically diverse communities, carers, Healthwatch, VCSE organisations and leaders across health and care. This involved complex discussions in a safe and trusted environment to co-design data decisions driven by and with insight from community voices.

Impact: “Your Data, for Our Good” – an insight-driven co-designed commitment to the use of data across health and care in Kent and Medway – was published. This enabled the building of public trust in the use of data in Kent and Medway.
